What is the SpeechOutline Process?

Follow a Process

The SpeechOutline process guides you step-by-step when preparing a speech or presentation. It was explained in Cam Barber’s book What’s Your Message? on pages 141-165.

Clarify Your Message

Most speakers don’t know their message! It's usually lost in the details. Ask yourself this: Can you state your easily repeatable message right now? Out loud? In the exact words you’ll use in front of your audience? And, will that message get you the results you want?

Structure Your Ideas

The human mind is overwhelmed easily. If you don’t structure/segment/seperate your ideas, they will float right over your listener’s head. The SpeechOutline Process helps you create a ‘Chunk Structure’ to highlight memorable points and keep people engaged from start to finish.

Why use the SpeechOutline Process?

Save Time and Mental Effort

Even the most experience pilots, doctors, and chefs use a checklist to save time and ensure clarity. The SpeechOutline Process gives you a proven checklist to prepare for a speech, presentation or important conversation. This chunked process is a faster and easier way to sort your thoughts, craft vivid messages and bring your ideas to life.

The SpeechOutline Process can be used on a whiteboard, with our PDF file or even the back of a napkin!
